@#$% water pump! please help!
Alright so I am changing the water pump on my 92 f150 302.
I got all the bolts off except one. It decided to snap off. It is the one that is behind the power steering and ac bracket. I have tried to heat it up and drill it (until the drill died, its charging now) nothing seems to want to free it up for me to get the pump off.
Any helpful hints or experiences to get this off this is my daily driver and I gotta go to work Monday morning. Thanks in advance.

Is there a stub hanging out? Did you also heat the cyl head where the bolt goes in? You might have to pull the entire timing cover to get the bolt out.

No there's not a stub hanging out. I heated the timing cover and pump trying to get it out.
How much more is involved in pulling the timing cover?
I'm going to try to drill it the rest of the way out. I have new studs so no worry in drilling it out.

Is it threaded into the cover or the block? To get the cover off there are 3 more bolts on the bottom, then pry it off, you will need a timing cover kit it comes with front pan gasket, cover gasket. and seals.

I LOVE OLD FORD'S
just went through this on my 89 302. if i remember correctally all the bolts bolt into the block not the timing cover. be prepared to take off both brackets for the accessories. just a few bolts and let them just "hang out" lol. not that hard just take your time and be sure you clean off the back of those plates. i used the rubber gaskets with a small amount of rtv sealant on both sides of the gasket so it dont slide around.
as far as the bolt i had one break on me and i coated it down with rtv and put the parts back on and it isnt leaking, it depends on how many other bolts are around that one also. i never have any luck removing any broken bolts. thats why i always spray the hell outta every bolt with pb blaster before i start.

Also be careful when pulling off the timing cover and scraping the old gasket off, the metal on that is different (softer) than the metal on your block, and you don't wanna bend the cover when you take it off. When I did this on mine, I ended up using a diamond-tipped drill bit to drill out the stud... they're hard to find but it'll last as long as you need it to for the job. When this happened to me, I was advised to do the job right and get the old bolt out, not just tighten every other bolt around it, and I would advise you to do the same. Do the job the right way.
