Default Washer Motor

Can someone explain why my windshield washer only works when its rainning? Is the moisture in the air somehow causing it to make connection? It doesn't rain much in San Diego but that is the only time I can make it work and I feel like it is mocking me.

Well, is it working when it rains or when the wipers are on?

Only when it's rainning, wipers on or off, makes no differance.

I had a feeling you'd say that. It's like my buddy's 89' Bronco. When you lift the hood, the light comes on. My 89 f150, you need to have the headlight switch pulled to use that light. WTF?

my wiper fluid only works sometimes and I have no idea why. Some days yes, some days no. I just remember to wash the windows at the gas station every now and then. Problem solved

Gr8Dane

Just got a 93 with lots of problems. Good thing it was cheap.

Anyway, the washer did not work at all and the windshield wipers had ONLY one speed.

Could hear a click in the dash when windshield washer button pushed.

Traced click to a small box behind the glove box. Turns out this box is the Windshield Wiper Governor. Obsolete now, special order from Ford, big bucks.

Junk yard trip got two for $15, both good. Washer works, wipers work.

Can not say for sure the box is your problem, but if you hear a click but no wash I'd start there.

Otherwise, I'd guess you have a bad wire or connector somewhere in the harness that gets wet when it rains and allows the washer to work.
