I went around a corner too fast on the only dirt road in the Twin Cities and slid off the road onto a train track. My front axle straddled the track, broke in half, shaved off the bottom of the trans, and snapped the drive shaft. I was stuck on those tracks for about 20 minutes until a train came and "pushed" the van off for me. Created a huge mess and almost derailed the train. I know I know...pics or it didn't happen, but that was 4 years ago and I was a little to freaked out at the time to think to take pics. But it happened.
Thanks to the grace of God many of us have survived similar events and become much smarter for it as a result. Damaging vehicles is very expensive but also can cause a lot of damage to people besides ourselves. I often thank god that I didn't hurt anyone by my foolish actions when I was young nearly 50 years ago.

I completely agree. I am very thankful that nothing, except the damage to my parent's car, happened. The most important thing is that I learned from the whole ordeal and know better now.

I haven't totaled a car in quite some time... so I don't have any pics handy, but here's the list!

1999: Totaled a 1992 ford escort (my brother's)
2001: Totaled a 1997 ford crown vic (best car ever!)
2004: Totaled another 1997 ford crown vic.

And just for pic's sake, here is a recent wrecked car I had on my phone. The driver and the passenger lived to drive/ride again! 90+ mph rollover off the right shoulder.

i dont know how yours is, but mine compares your vehicle to others for sale in the area. there first offer was 3300 and i declined, so they had me fax in other trucks iv found, ofcourse all the most expensive ones i could find, some up to 8k. they came back a week later with the offer of 5500.

at first they said the vehicles i wanted to compare with had to be exactly or really close to the name (95-96 f150 xlt short bed 2wd ect) but i got a paper showing what they compared mine to and it was a bunch of early 90s base model work trucks. so i literally grabbed any 92-96 f150 i could find that was worth more then 7k in about a 500 mile radius.

so in short, dont accept the first offer, and argue that your vehicle is worth more, unless they give you a pretty fair offer from the start, which wont happen lol.

yea it helped me because the appraiser gave nearly everything on my truck a 9/10-10/10 condition wise so i had a lil more ground to stand on when it came to negotiating a price.
