Default Stupid ??

I'm a heavy equipment mechanic.I know nothing about cat converters.Seeing my truck don't need emission test any more .What would happen if i cut the cat out??

since its a 96, the check engine light will come on, telling you that your cat is messed up. other then that, you might notice a little more response from the throttle. unless your cat is clogged up.

There is really no advantage to dropping the cat unless its malfunctioning.

You'll get a little more power but lose low end torque because of the reduction of backpressure.

Sorry to blow your bubble but the need for backpressure is a myth. High velocity of exhaust gasses is what is needed for torque.
