Default Upper and Lower Ball Joint Replacement

Afternoon folks,
I wanted to see if anyone has completed an upper and lower arm ball joint replacement on their F150. I drive a 1993 2WD 4.9L. First question, is this job difficult? While doing this job could I potentially really hurt myself haha? Any advice is appreciated. For some reason the smaller the part that much more of a pain it turns out to be. Thanks ya'll,

Mike

i did it in my 90 swb 2wd. all i can say is get a BIG F***ING HAMMER and a ball join press and its not THAT bad. it really is a PITA and time consuming but made a night and day difference on my truck. just take the hub/rotor assembly and tie rod ends off, tuck the caliper back, loosen the top ball joint nut to the top of the threads but dont take it off completely and beat the hell out of the spindle just next to where the tie rod end was until it drops down. and dont swing gingerly is all i can say. (some good penetrating lubricant is key here). Not a bad idea to throw in some new tie rod ends, wheel bearings, and brake pads while you got it apart. just get it aligned afterwards

Will take u about 45 min a side if you have a big hammer. Breaker bar and common sense.

You may also need a pickle for to separate the ball joints from the axle. Mine were so stuck that I actually drove the knuckle off the lower ball joint while it was still in the axle. This was after I removed the alignment collar off of the top, yes it did break the clip holding it in the steering knuckle.
