Turbo 302 build

Turbo 302 build
I have a 5.0 302 in my 95 F150 and I'm wondering what sort of stuff I'd need to do a single turbo build, or if there are any companies that make crate 302's that would work in my truck with little to no modifications with electrical( last major wiring job ended horribly when I had to make a whole new harness for a friends commander 1000). I'm going to build my truck for both mud/ racing and the stock 302 isn't very impressive and Id rather not have a 351 in the truck. I'd prefer a build by myself than I know who to blame but if there's any decent prices crate 302's that make around 300-350 hp I'd consider that. any info would be great!

With different heads cam, a carb if your going that route, and better internals, you should be able to get right around 300 without a turbo.. Otherwise a stroker kit will get there too. Or even a supercharger setup. They make a kit for the 5.0 mustangs.

I'm going to keep it fuel injected. I'd prefer a turbo kit as its a lot cheaper than a supercharger ( and I personally like the sound of a turbo more ). Thanks any companies in particular that make the parts Id need for a turbo build?

300hp on that budget should be easy, you don't even need to do anything to the engine at that power level . T70 turbo, megasquirt 2 (control fuel and timing), 42lbs injectors, trans controller if using computer controlled trans, and a walbro 255lph fuel pump. You can retain stock fuel economy(depending on our tuning ability) when cruising out of boost. This is basically the same combo i have in my car cept' trick flow heads and intake, and stock mustang cam(probably round 500rwhp at 10psi on completely stock short block) and it cost me roughly $3500 for turbo setup. I would also recommend getting aftermarket aluminum heads, I kept lifting stock heads. switched to aluminum and haven't had a problem since. And make sure your trans is up to it.

I drove a friends 92 mustang LX with twin turbos and a intercooler. It looked all stock so it was a fun sleeper. The motor was all stock except the turbo kit. It held up fine to our beating. The compression was a little high because it ran best on race gas, didn't ping. It had tons of low end power, no turbo lag. The turbos sounded great. I wish I had that motor in my truck.

Any links to the parts you used?

Keep in mind it may cost you more, I did buy a lot of parts second hand. http://www.vsracing.net/catalog/prod...roducts_id=812 this is the turbo I'm using on my maverick, get the .68 turbine housing if using a stock engine. Vsracing has most of the other parts you need (wastegate, BOV, intercooler(optional), fuel pump, etc).
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/m...ase-p-119.html This is an unassemble msII, you can buy an assembled unit but it will cost more. You and also use a tweecer for tuning and you wont need a trans controller as it works with the factory ecu. I personally like the ms as a stand alone and no maf meter. The injectors, trans controller, and other misc parts can be bought from http://www.summitracing.com. I got my mandrel bends from columbiariver for the hot side and down pipe. Also ebay is a good source for non moving parts(intercoolers, piping, ect.) they make not be the best parts but they'll work.
