So I picked up my 1990 ford f150 its got a brandnew 5.0 in it now it ran perfect after a jump start but 15 to 20 minuets in it dies and I have to jump start it again it ticks like a dead battery and im gonna have the battery replaced but why does it stall after running strong its also running really rich fuel amounts..?

the alternater might be bad, if the alternator is good it should keep running.

with a fully charged battery the truck will run for a little on its own. but it sounds like your alternator is on its way out. test it and see if its good. the rich fuel and not enough power might be parts of the same problem, any codes?

charge your battery till it has a full charge then come back the next day. if it still has 12 volts its your alternator. you can take your alt. to a most part stores and they can test it. if thats not it could be a bad o2 sensor or tps sensor causing it to flood out. could be alot of things go through the list one thing at a time.

My 94 F150 has the same problem. The fuel pressure regulator was bad, when I replaced it she ran just fine
