The Rumble Beast

i went out to start my truck tonight and the truck cranks then after it cranks for a few seconds here a loud squelling grinding noise then engine starts and there is no noise. done it everytime i started the truck tonight. Anyone know what would cause this?

Belt and or tensioner pulley.

that would make a loud squelling griding noise right before the car starts and then go away when it starts. the squellig noise isn't there while cranking just when it is starting.

do you think it could be my starter. battery was lit up on dash.

Probibly alt. When u have starter engaged it may be drawing to much n shorting alt and seasign it for a few seconts. Have someone watck alt wen you start it

could be the starter gear grinding on the flywheel.
