We'd do it

It is either behind the fuse box directly behind the turn signal flasher (probably not on yours) or all the way on the passenger side of the truck under the dashboard but to the right of the glove box. The picture in my book shows the glove box removed for a clear view of it. You can use the turn signal flasher in it to see if that's the problem.

Lets look at the circuit, starting at the lights.
Turn signals, Brake lights and hazards all share the same filament on each side. Your problem is not here (because you have turn signals).
Parking lights are on a separate circuit and use a different filament in the bulb on each side.
Moving forward, we have a connector the ties the bed mounted bulbs and harness to the frame mounted harness. You problem is not here (because you have turn signals).
Again moving forward, our next stop is the turn signal switch. Stop, turn and hazards all share this switch. The flashers and turn signals have flashers wired into the circuit before this switch. The brake lights get power from the brake pedal mounted switch and that is fed to the hazard switch. The Hazards get their power from the Hazard flasher and that goes to the hazard switch.
Since the Turn signals work, we can safely rule out the turn signal switch itself.
As the hazard switch controls both the brake light and the hazard light filaments we can safely assume the Hazard Switch has gone bad. The Hazard Switch is part of the Multifunction switch (Turn Signals, Hazard, Wipers and Washers), It is now safe to assume the Multifunction switch needs replaced.

I had the same problem with my '93 150.
It was the multi function switch. Being the cheapskate I am, I actually removed the unit, disassembled it, cleaned 18 years worth of corrosion and crap off the contacts, and voila.....everything works as advertised.
Just be careful to note where everything is located when you do take it apart, be patient and persistent.
