Default transmission trick

ok so i was supposed to pull my trans today but instead my dad says to just put a couple quarts in it and go .
he says that a transmission man said that sittin in a cruise in like i was or haulin hay heats up the seals causing a leak .
the fix let it sit and cool off and refill
is this true or not.

Trucks aren't supposed to leak fluid at any time, cold or warm. Waiting for it to cool off everytime it leaks isn't a good idea. Besides, heat expands things and cold shrinks things, so it would be more likely to leak cold and stop leaking hot.

i do know that the trans pressure system is thrown off from leaks and will blow that thing up. its cheaper and easier to rebuild if not already blown up

When the oil is getting hot it starts to leak if the seal is worn out. Hot oil has a higher fluctuation, so the seal can't hold it inside anymore. This process is not related to "things getting bigger when they worm up" - difference between hot/cold temperatures is not that big to notice it.
