Default Transmission "stalls" at random speeds

My girlfiend has a 95 F150 2wd that has a transmission that has been acting up since she bought it about a year ago and it has only gotten worse. The problem happens at random speeds but seems to happen more often when you are accelerating alittle harder.

While accelerating or driving at a steady speed the transmission seems to momentarily jump out of gear and then re-engage. When it does this the motor RPM increases as if the truck was in neutral. Usually the problems stops if you let out of the gas for a second and then get back on the gas.

When I found out what the truck was doing I dropped the transmission pan and changed the fluid and filter (had to change the gasket so the fluid has been changed twice within a 2 day period) and it is still doing the same thing.

Does anyone have an idea of what I should look at replacing/adjusting first. Any advice would help.

Thanks

I would have to agree here. Since you have changed the fluid and filter it is most likely the converter going bad.

its an auto transmission.
