yeah the valve body is located in the pan right?, so I hope I don't have to rebuild the tranny, just maybe the valve body? Then I need to find a valve body rebuild kit, or a rebuilt one. I seen one on ebay for an '83 will that work, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...Q5fAccessories ?

yeah 5 speed I wish. But really, would that '83 AOD valve body go into my '93 AOD? And are the 2wd valve body the same as the 4wd ones?

I dont believe they are. And I dont believe they are either. The valves in the transmission(aod) suck. they made a couple upgrades after '91 the guy told me. So I dont think they are the same. I would switch it to a five speed if I could do it again.

Our valve bodys pretty much dictate the shifting, because of pressure in the transmission, so it was explained to me. But if the clutches are burnt, then it will still slip.

yeah the valve body tells the transmission when and how much pressure to apply and which booster valve to open at the right time for the right gear. Which is why tonight I went out pulled the pan and filter again, and noticed, when I did the filter change the lil square gasket (for the exit of the filter) was sideways! It only got crushed on 1 corner of it, and was ripped in one of the sections. Right there I thought I had it, but I remembered I'v been having the problem before the filter change, so I kept looking. Stratigically checking what I could, right now I need a valve body layout so I can see what's what, and I seen a lil black clip (I hope, b/c it was the only one I seen, and there was numerous other valves)) holding one of the valves in. There was also 2 holes (look casted that way) on opposite ends of the valve body's innerds, and I could see 2 black areas that looked smooth, but I seen one piece of bare metal next one (have no idea what those are, dont look like steels or fibers, b/c all 3 are like an inch wide). Other than that I seen nothing that looked to be troublesome. I tried to take a picture, maybe tommorrow with the cell phone. Lemme know if you seen an AOD layout I could check out, thx.

I believe the valve bodies are the same between 2wd and 4x4, but I don't know if the older and newer interchange.

Yeah, gin, I know exactly what you are talking about, you cant replace those with hand tools, you have to have specialty tools to do it. So your out of luck again, you keep throwing your money away redoing it over and over again.
