transmission slipping?
Hi. how do you know if your automatic transmission is starting to slip. it sort of feels like it should be engaging more, but im not sure. also when you first start it, it seems like it slips even more. I just got a tranny flush, so its fresh fluid, and full. any ideas? there was no metal in the pan either when taken apart. thanks.

transmission bands
im not sure what transmission model it is. its a 1990 XLT 4x4 with a 5.8. the fluid level is good. so tightening the band adjustment screw could make the truck engage a little bit better? is that what it does? do you need any special tools to access the band adjustment screw? thanks.

do you have overdrive? If not it's a c6. That's what I have in my 89 5.8 and there's 1 band to adjust on that one. You loosen the jam nut and tighten the band to 10 ft/lbs and then back it off 1 and 1/2 turns. Then holding the band, tighten the jam nut to 40 ft/lb. The 4 speed transmissions may have different torque values, but the adjustment process is the same
