granted iv never bought a f150 for less then 1500, iv just watched my parents spend that again and again over the last 15 years, and non of the cars have lasted much more then 2 years, most never made it past a year.
My f150 was 50 bucks

So the question is what's the difference between owning one of our generation trucks vs a more fuel efficient car? I put about 30,000 miles on a vehicle per year. Most of the time I don't need a trucks capabilities. So in my case the cost difference adds up in a hurry, its way cheaper to drive the car most of the time.

But I do love having that truck when I want to drive it (or need to drive it).

Are you talking car note or not. That's the question. The cost of a paid for vehicle that runs good and gets a minimum of say 14-15mpg......you just cannot save money over a car note plus fuel, regular maintenance and insurance. I could pay 50k for a hybrid electric and get 50mpg, but how long does it take to recoup that money. Probably never.

In my case of minimum 30,000 miles a year the fuel difference alone is at least $3,500. I love driving a truck but its way more expensive than driving a sedan that gets 30 to 40 mpg.

The way I look at it is this, do you need it? if no then get a car, otherwise if you want to keep it but want a car and you only use the truck around the yard/farm, keep the truck and buy a car! that's my opinion
