Is there any way possible to change an internal clutch slave cylinder....
I have 92 F150 4.9L 4X4, and my clutch slave cylinder been leaking for a while now, sometimes it good for a month, but other times it good for a day. I have no ran into an issue where the Clutch master cylinder is acting up bad, and I can change that out without an issue. The only problem I have is the slave cylinder since it sits in the bell housing of the transmission. Is there any way possible to even change out the slave cylinder without yanking the transmission out and easily. Every place I have called wanted at least $800 to change out a $70 part, or is it even possible to change out the Master Cylinder and some how bleed the system with only one person and keep it going for a bit until I can get rid of it. If anyone has any thought that would be great, because I am getting tired of having to play with the shaft to make it 6 miles before having to do it agian.

okay so i have a 95 with a 302 and a 5 speed, my slave cyl went bad and i replaced it. had to pull the tranny and after that is was pretty easy and straight forward. pulling your tranny isnt all that hard, bought my truck as an automatic and switched it to a manual so ive had my tranny out many times. its just bell housing bolts and gear shift and plugs, two tranny mount bolts(on mine) and your done. oh and unbolt the rear drive shaft. helps to have two people

I just don't have the place or all the tools to pull the transmission out to change it. I just changed out the Master Cylinder and bleed the entire system by myself using a Kayak paddle. Still got the leaking slave cylinder, but at least the clutch isn't getting stuck to the floor anymore.

No possible way to do that w/o pulling the trans... If I remember correctly, i once unbolted the trans and slid it back so it reseted on the crossmember and it was just enough room to change the clutch w/o actually dropping the trnny. I might be mistaken though...maybe that was my Bronco II...If you replace it(you should, a leaky slave is going to eventually leave you stranded somewhere) use a FoMoCo slave. It's worth it in the long run. A lot of work to replace it...might as well do it right1
