Default Front pinion bearing

Hey i need to replace my front pinion bearing in my 1989 4x4. Is this something i can do myself. I am an ex bodyshop guy not very mechanically inclined, if you know what i mean. What would i need to do this and does anyone make a kit??

inner or outer bearing....outer is easy...inner sucks...you have to re-clay the gears and shim the pinion again...

Outer is easy...pull the yoke pop the bearing and seal pop in the new ones and tighten it down...if it's the same as the one I did....

Was wondering about the decision to replace the bearing, is there a noise on accel or decel?

yes provided the inner isnt so bad it wobbles...

I toasted one so bad once the pinion decided to grove the carrier...that wasnt a good thing...it made a hell of a racket and whine...and I drove it like that before I had time to tear it down...and a lead foot to boot...

this was on my 57 bel air 4 door...
