Surging in OD?
Hey guys, got me a problemo... Went muddin' yesterday, and have since noticed the engine likes to surge a little sometimes when in OD, and occassionally right when shifting to 3rd. Like it'll drop fully in gear, then sounds like it winds up a bit, getting to the drone I'm used to hearing at 43 early, I get it at 35-37 when it surges. That's for 3rd gear. In OD I'll just be driving along and then it sounds like she drops down half a gear... Still OD, revs just go up enoughh to notice. It's doing it less and less the more I drive, but I wonder why it does this? It also happened the first time I drove her after I got back from a 2 week vacation over winter (truck was in florida), but it sorted all out during that drive so I figured it was computer just re-learning or something.
Sorry for the rambling! Any help is appreciated, and the truck is a '91 300/E4OD

I really don't know a whole lot about automatics, but I want to learn. Surging is no good, probably the clutches. The tranny just went out in my Windstar, slipping and surging. I threw in some TransTune and it was better, but not good enough to keep driving. Maybe yours will like it better. As for me, I'm going to attempt my first automatic rebuild. I've already done a manual but I hear autos are harder.

Well... women are expensive, so I couldn't get the transtune today, I will on Sunday after I get paid. But on the upside, through all of today, there wasn't one moment of weirdness today, if I'm lucky it's all been worked out.
I don't remember if I said earlier, but over christmas I was gone for 2 weeks and it did this same thing on the first drive for 10 miles
