Default Starting issue

91 4.9i6 4x4 5spd , the last few days when I start it up in the mornings it turns over then spitters out. Starts right up on the second try.. And starts up all during the day no problem at all.. Only the first time I try to crank it in the morning it does it. Anybody had a similar issue?

Overnight fuel pressure bleeddown maybe ? (No that's not a real word) Try turning it to "on" and let it prime completely before turning it to "start" and see if that makes a difference

Vacuum line leading to it smells like gas. Think the fuel pressure regulator can be causing my accleration hesitation? Like it's starving for fuel on takeoff

If the vacuum hose on the regulator is getting fuel inside then the regulator is bad. This could cause starting issues, and the hesitation or starvation of fuel your having. I'd replace it and see if things get better.

I replaced the regulator this morning and it's still doing the same thing. When I try to turn it over cold in the mornings it won't start on the first turn. 2nd turn it starts right up
