Default Starter for 1992 F150

Hi guys, I found your site and am hoping you can help.

I have a 1992 extended cab F 150 that I want to restore to factory condition. It has been a farm truck for the last 10 years, so it needs a little work.

Right now I have the starter out of it and it is dead. Is there a place to get Motorcraft starters for a decent price? I am really leary of Chinese parts and would like to keep OEM parts. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site!

May try rockauto.com or lmctruck.com to see what they offer. Other than those online channels, only other place I know of to get a Motorcraft starter is from the Ford dealer. Perhaps other members can help out here.

If price is a criteria, suggest to consider non-OEM remanufactured starters from a reputable parts store. I try to avoid the chains - AutoZone, O'Reilly's, etc. - just because I've had bad experience. The warranty loses my confidence level when one is changing the part out for the 2nd and 3rd time, even if it is free.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check those sites out.

In regards to the chain parts, I have replaced so many CarQuest parts on my car it isn't funny. The OE stuff lasted until 200,000 and the replacement parts can't make it past 20,000. It gets old in a hurry.

One more question. Does anyone know the difference between the SAV769ARM and the SA769ARM? My truck has the 5.0 with an automatic transmission. Both starters claim to be for the 5.0 with an AT and replacements for the E9SF-11001BA.

Looks like Rockauto has one for $98.00 including the core charge. That is the same price as a Chinese one that I can get in town.
