Default speedometer acting funny

Hey guys, My 95 f150 4x4 with the 5 speed has a problem, the speedo will show the correct mph when it is not acting up, and then it will jump up, down, but will always return to the correct mph for a second or two and then start jerking around again. Now I have all ready replaced, my vss/abs sensor, but I dont know where to go from there, I would appreciate any help.

If it is a cable, it just might need to be lubed, or check the gear that goes into the tran.

How about the actual speedo itself? Might be dirt or dust in the mechanism that operates the speedo. There should be a sensor in the trans, and did you check the cruise control sensor if it has one?

I have no cruise, No light, mine does it above 30 mph no mater how long it has been running. And this just started happening as I was driving home one day do no really think that just dust or dirt would cause such a problem, and where is the sensor on the tranny

I guess I am not up on the new technological electronic transes, I never really looked at my 92, I dont think there is one now, the speedo is driven off the speed sensor, if there is, it might be in the tail housing of the trans on the driver side where the old cables went.
