That's exactly what it's called, power steering pulley removal and installation tool. It's in the tool aisle at the parts store.

Eh, I've always called it a Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover. Basically, a special wheel puller with a clamp to grab the grooved ring around the pulley hub, and a jackscrew that allows one to both remove (pull-off) and install (push-on) the pulley.

Be sure to note where your pulley currently sets with respect to the pump shaft - you will need to re-set the pulley in the same place to maintain belt alignment.

AutoZone, and I would suspect many parts stores, have tool lending / rental arrangements - to avoid buying a tool that will (hopefully) rarely get used.

I've only seen the pulleys pushed all the way on even with the shaft.

Heheheh - yep, one of the finer points I missed on my first replacement. Experience is often times the result of bad judgement :-)

Thanks for the information. The last Ford Truck I owned was a 1970 with a 390 V-8 and this 1987 F150 with a 300 EFI 6 cylinder is a lot different.
