Smog pump squealing

Smog pump squealing
So, recently my '93 F150 with the 302 has been squealing very bad, to the point that it's about to drive me insane. I initially thought it was just the belt, but after further diagnosis, I've come to find out that it's actually the smog pump. I'm assuming that a bearing has run dry in it, so I just wanted some opinions, should I try to take it apart and rebuild it, or just buy a remanufactured one at NAPA for $50? I would just bypass it with a shorter belt, but I have stock exhaust and I don't want to clog up the cats lol

$50 sounds like a good deal. You also won't have to worry about getting a "special" belt (which can be an ongoing nuisance). My son's truck had a delete belt on it, but the PO had put too short of a belt on, which took out his alternator bearings - worst case scenario of course, but still he has to remember what belt he needs instead of just getting the stock size for his truck.
I didn't realize they sold them so cheap. I think I'll buy one just so I don't ever have to worry about it.

Well, seems unanimous, looks like I'm going to go order one. Also, they don't seem to be normally this cheap, NAPA is the only place around me that sells them that cheap, everywhere else it was $230, which was originally the main reason I was considering rebuilding instead of buying.

Wow, I wonder why the price shot up on these things? I bought one maybe a year ago from Advance and it was no where near $230.
And the reason I chose to keep it on my truck (even though my state doesn't require it) is because I didn't want the headache of needing a special belt.
