Connecting Clutch Line to Slave Cylinder

Connecting Clutch Line to Slave Cylinder
Hi,
My clutch line popped out of the slave cylinder the other day, and I have been struggling to reconnect it. Most of the forum posts I find mention the slave receptacle with the metal fingers. Mine uses a clip.
Any tricks to getting this back in? I've tried loosening the bleeder screw and using a new line. Is there a different connector type that is used with the clip vs the the metal fingers?

if you already have a new line, have you compared the ends to make sure they look the same?
The clip on the slave is just an updated design used in the aftermarket.
And the hose isnt supposed to disconnect without the special tool, so it is very possible something is broken. There could be part of the slave cylinder stuck on the hose connector, or part of the connector stuck in the slave.
