Default Sloppy Steering Wheel

Well my first question here is this.

There is a TON of play in the wheel. From straight I can move the wheel about 4 inches to the right.

I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to tighten this up, new PS pump, new linkage, do I need to rework the front suspension a little?

I would just like to drive down the road and not have to wiggle all around cause I'm constantly moving the wheel around.

There is 2 things I would check first. One is tie rods and second the steering gear box. On the steering gear box there is a small stud with a nut on it. It is the adjustment for the steering, get the nut loose and adjust it one quarter turn at a time tighten it and drive the truck see how it feels. You can go from there.

Hmmm, perhaps I'm doing something wrong here.

Tightening that screw up does tighten the steering wheel feel, but the front end still wants to wonder around. Yes, all tie rod ends and drag links are tight.

Tighten too much, and the truck will hold a curve without any hands on the wheel - borders on the last thing a redneck says, - "hey y'all - watch this".

Wde3477 has a point on tightening too much on the adjustment. Make sure your suspension is good before before you try the gear box, jack up your truck and check for play in the suspension try to move the tires in and out or up and down. If that is OK then try the gear box adjustment. Good luck.
