Default front end noise 4x4 95 5.0

when i was driving today i noticed a slight clicking noise coming from the front driverside tire. is seemed to get louder and more agressive when i applied the brakes. and when i pulled out onto the road i nailed it (after starting it by jumping the silinoid)and it made a loud whining noise and finaly a loud clunck before it resumed to the slight click again.

any thoughts?

was it in 4wd when this happend?

1...driver side motor mount sounds like it's GONE!

2...front differential is in need of new clutch plates...might i suggest a rebuild kit with carbon fiber clutch plates.

HUB?--more recent play in steering? If not, driver side u joint inside your TTB beam.

with the whining you described, I still would say differential. Wheather the 4x4 is engaged or not, the clutch packs need to work together so the wheels spin individually(someone with a 4x4 chime in please).

check your 4X4 links while you're at it!

i would say your automatic 4x4 lockers are broke.
Did you back up after having it 4x4?
What happens they don't release and brake.
That's what happened to mine.
