Default Shifter alignment

I feel like I've seen a post for this before but how do you align the shifter with the letters with the Orange marker on the 91 F1 50

Read this http://www.fordf150.net/articles/idx.php/0/016/article/Ford-F150-Gear-Shift-Indicator-Adjustment.html

In that link it says the wheel you turn is black. But it could be white, it is on my 95.

He's looking for the column shifter adjustment. I copied all of this from another thread, plagiarism FTW!

Look under steering column/dash you should be able to see a small white plastic piece that holds a black thumb wheel. By turning thumb wheel you adjust the string that connects to shift indicator. Now, most of the times the small white plastic piece is broken, and can not be adjusted. If the retainer clip is only split and the piece that broke is still on the cable, a strategically placed zip tie can pull the two halves back together just above the thumb screw/cable assembly.

Yeah sorry. I was in the truck at a stop light using voice to text.

But yeah the Orange market doesn't line up with any of the letters(p,R,n,d,1,2). I'll look into this tomorrow. Thanks!!

So is it a different procedure for a 91. The shift letters are different than the 92-96 version.

Yep. I took my column down to replace my ignition switch and there was no adjustment wheel. I wish I had a picture for you but its not hard to drop the column if you want to fix it.

Check out the pictures on this Ebay ad for an indicator setup. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-1991-Fo...-/231006984113

I think the adjustment is done with the small screw. You loosen it and slide the piece to line things up then tighten it back down.
