Replacing ignition switch lock

Replacing ignition switch lock
I have a 1991 f150 with a 5 speed. The genious that owned the truck before me did not realize there was a key release and turned the key until he broke the ignition switch lock acutator and I can not figure out how to take the column apart to replace it. I found a replacement part but just needed to know if any could tell me how to get the column apart. Thanks for any help.

If you're talking about the key cylinder itself, there's a hole on the underside you press in with a pick to disengage the retaining pin with the key in the run position and pull the whole unit out. If you don't have a key you can drill it out with a 1/8" bit.
If it's the release lever on the left side of the column that's broken, then I dunno what to tell you...

Not sure exactly what you are asking? If you are asking about how to remove the steering wheel....
Remove plastic shroud if present.
Remove the horn bar... screws on the back.
Remove the wheel nut.... I use a 'star' lug wrench.
Use a wheel puller to remove the wheel.

Remove turn signal lever. Mine just unscrews.. not sure about later models.
Now you should be able to see what needs to be done.
Take photos so you can get everything back together.
OR there are lots of online diagrams, photos, Youtube etc
