Default Removing a transmission

My transmission is coming out. I just don't know how yet.

Does anybody know if autozone rent tranny jacks? or how i can alter a floor jack to aid me in removing the transmission.

A piece of 2x10 and careful placement under the transmission works for me.

You can also get trans adapters for floor jacks at Northern Tool or probably Harbor Freight. Should work on a truck. They sit too high for use on a car (ask me how I know). I have one collecting dust in the basement that I'd like to get rid of, but it's stupid heavy so it would be expensive to ship.

I am in NJ and need one if you are looking to get rid of it.

But the best thing is to have at least 2 people doing it so this way if it starts to slide or anything you have someone there to help you. And Im pretty sure you can rent the tranny jacks.

You might also check Harbor Freight for tranny jacks. I just bought their 800 lb capacity jack in preparation for my upcoming fuel pump replacement. Doing it myself should more than pay for the jack, and it has min/max heights that I like; it should find other uses.

Good luck,

Bill

You can have it. I'm tired of tripping over the thing. PM me and we can make arrangements.
