Does anyone know if the oil pan on a 1995 F150 with a 5.8L engine and 4WD and automatic can be removed while the engine is installed?

Remove fan shroud. Remove upper intake manifold. On A/T models, disconnect oil cooler lines from radiator. On all models, disconnect exhaust pipes from exhaust manifold. Remove front engine mounting nuts, and raise engine.
Drain engine oil. Support transmission and remove transmission crossmember. Remove oil pan bolts and lower oil pan. Remove oil pump bolts and pick-up tube nut. Lower oil pump assembly into pan. Remove oil pan from vehicle.

When I did mine I had to unbolt the tranny from the engine, unbolt transmission mount, then unbolt the engine mounts. The motor came up far enough to get the pan out but it was a PITA. I don't wish doing this upon anyone.

A buddy of mine who has owned about 8 F150 told me he has done the oil pan gasket by taking a grinder to the rivets on the x-member and knocking them out. Then he was able to drop the x-member down enough to get the oil pan off. Afterward he just replaced the rivets with some grade 8 bolts. Never done it that way myself so can't swear by the method, but it is a suggestion that doesn't involve lifting the motor.

I did mine in under an hr, unbolt motor mounts, loosen fan shroud, I fortunately have an engine hoist, lifted engine as high as it goes, unbolt pan, no need to remove, my gaskets just fell off, a little scraping, get a 1 piece silicone gasket, it comes with pins to hold gasket in place, silicone corners, work gasket around oil pump, put gasket on pegs, push pan back up, bolt pan. There was enough room to work without removing pan.

It can be done without pulling the upper intake manifold.....been there and done that.

Im about to remove the oil pan on my 95 f150 5.8 xlt. Tthe manual says remove upper intake manifold (after i read the removal instruction i've been in a quest to to find a good excuse not to). I guess my question is why remove the manifold for the oil pan? thanks.

To provide enough clearance to lift engine high enough. Otherwise plenum will hit firewall.

Hello. New to forum. need to replace oil pan gasket on96 F150. I have the oil pan off, resting on cross member. Wondering if you also replaced the oil pump, am guessing not. i have a bunch of crap stting in oil pan now (old gasket pieces rust, etc). I am thinking i need to remove pan to get the crap out, and also to replace oil pump. sounds like a lot of work though. i like your method because it sounds relatively painless. any thoughts? thanks!

hi. New to forum here. got 96 F150 6 cyl 300 oil pan is detached, sitting on cross member. getting ready to lift engine to remove pan, to clean out junk that fell in there, and replace oil pump and gasket. never done this before, am a little uncertain. am wondering, can I unbolt motor from trans, and hoist engine, or will that pick up the tranny with it because of the shaft into the tranny? wondering how this is normally dealt with. sounds like you probably have dealt with this, would value your input!
