Since I bought my truck, I have been unable to fill the rear gas tank. When I try to pump fuel, it just fills the neck and then overflows. Looking for some advice on where to start troubleshooting. never worked on the gas tank before so any advice is appreciated, especially for safety. to my knowledge there is no gas in the tank (I have knocked on it and it sounds dry as a bone)

Maybe its already full... You may have a bad tank selector or sending unit.

Take off your filler neck, and see if there is something caught in there. Takes about 10 minutes and isn't hard to do at all.

My friend just bought an 87 250 with dual tanks and after putting about $30 worth of gas in one tank and driving a few minutes the pressure forced gas back out of the tank. He decided that he would relieve the pressure by takig off the cap and when he did it literally emptied itself in that parking lot of a local restuarant...???

stick a semi-stout tube in there and pull it out. if its wet you're already full. of there is blockage, you'll know that too
