rear main leak or rear oil seal leak?
I have a 95 F150 5.8 Ive been reading on how to change the rear main but half the time they talk about the rear main and the other half there talking about the rear seal how can i tell wich one needs changed and which is the most common that needs changed.

Im not sure it is the same thing one requires you to remove the oil pan and the rear main bearing cap and its a two piece seal, the other you have to seperate the trans and motor then remove the rear engine cover and replace the seal you did answer my question but I just wanted to clarify what I was talking about.

Same thing, just the years, older I think early 80s and back have 2pc and the later yrs have 1pc, the rear main seal pretty much means its on the bearing itself, and the rear seal is on the back of the block.
