Default Truck Just Died While Driving

I have a 1989 F150 with EFI and I believe a 351 V8 not sure what size though. I bought the truck in October and have been daily driving it with no issues ever since, except for today. I was driving down the highway at about 60 mph, I was coming to a red light so I began to coast to a stop. Before I got there, the light turned green, so i hit the gas to get back up to speed, but when i hit the gas the truck just died immediately. I pulled to the side of the road and tried to restart it and it cranks with plenty of power but still wont start.I purged the fuel line to make sure there was no air in the line and it is fine. What could this problem be? Thanks for any helpful input.

This EXACT scenario happened to me. Check the noise supressor, I had a bare wire. If its not there search all over. But the wire kept blowing a fuse which allowed it to crank and not start. Turn your key to ON but dont start it, see if you can hear your fuel pump. I too was doing about 50 and slowed down for a car to turn, when I got back on it she just quit.

Spray starting fluid into intake and give it a whirl, if it lights off then fuel is the problem. No start, then check for spark at plugs.

Where exactly is the noise suppressor? Fords and this old of vehicles is all new to me. I use this truck to keep my other vehicle out of the bad weather.

It definitely has no spark fuel is not the issue here. What are some common problems as far as the distributor goes? Does the ignition module often fail on these trucks?

very likely the ignition control module, had an 89 f150 with the 302 that did the exact same thing, should be on the side of the distributor.

Update: It turned out the problem was the ignotion module. For all who do this if you completely remove the distributor make sure you adjust the timing once everything is put back together. After I got this done, the ignition cylinder in the steering column stripped out and all it does is spin all the way around now. I will update on this later.

If you try and start your truck and it turns over really fast like your not getting any compression. It's your fuel pump relay.Check wires to make sure there connected,if they are , replace fuel pump relay.
