Hi,

My rear brakes seem to lock up the first couple time they are engaged after sitting through a rainy or damp night. It seems to just have started in the last month or so. It also happened on my previous Ranger but I never really cared because the truck had 180K miles and I was looking into F150's. Now that I have a pretty nice F150 I want to take care the glitches.

Has anyone else had this problem? What can be done to fix it?

how do they unlock? and have you checked your brake fluid, brake lines, etc.?

May want to inspect the brakes - grease or oil on the pads / shoes can cause some grabby situations.

yea my truck will do the same thing when its real cold or icy but it usual quit once there warm

They just seem to stick & lock up the first couple times I use the brakes, even if I very very lightly stop. I think it only happens when going forward. My driveway is a small hill and I usually use them to brake as I'm backing out and don't have any problems. Its when I get to the top of the street and brake for the first time going forward.

hmm.... yeah, you might wanna check your brake fluid and brake lines.

Mine does the same thing. They completly lock the first 4 times i stop after its been sittin when its damp. Its only the rear drums. Pulled em and looked and everything is fine brake wise, and my fluid is topped off. who knows if there is air in the line or anthing, I suppose its possible. Its not quite annoying enough for me to worry about it.

My 96 F150 does not do this at all. I used to own a 74 F100 that did not do it either. Not sure what would cause it.

yeah, same here. my '91 doesnt do it, my '70 bronco doesnt do it, and my old '87 and '95 bronco's i had didnt do it either. who knows? thats weird.

my 97 was doing that, i had an axle shaft seal leak that got oil on the pads and caused it to do the same thing
