Default Rear Axle

I'm just curious if this would possibly work. My Dad has an older ('60 something) 3/4 ton Ford with a 9" diffie and posi. I was wondering what it would take, if it's possible, to switch this into my '88 F150.

Thanks, Mike

Default 9 Inch

Also, how do i switch over to five lugs, or can I. The 3/4 ton is eight lug.

Thanks, Mike

from what ive heard youll lose your speedometer if you do that? cause i was looking into as well. from what ive heard, its not worth it unless you really NEED bigger axle.

Default Rear Axle

Well I don't necessarily need the 9 inch I just have a tendency to fry my tires and go drag racing. I'm mostly interested in the posi, it'll let me put on a better smokeshow. I would just convert it to posi but this axle is here and won't cost me anything, maybe a little brake work, so I'd like to do it that way if I can.

Thanks, Mike

Just get some 8 lug steelies to put on it. Cheap and easy. Other than that go to www.floridapowertrain.com and look up the Jacksonville # ask them how much a set of 5 lug axles would cost for it.

9 inches where strickly 5lug, 1/2 ton truck or large car. i do believe. yes pretty sure on that. are you sure its a 9 inch? or are you sure its an f-250 cause all 8lugs were full floating. i think

Default Rear Axle

I'm not a 100% sure it's a 9" but that's what my Dad and bro say and they usually know what they're talking about. What else would it be, an 8.8"?

Thanks, Mike

Hopefully the ID taq is still present on the Diff, that should resolve the size of the rear end.
