Default Rear Antilock Light

My rear antilock light is on in my '88 F150. I was told that it was probably the sensor in the rear differential that was out. Is there any way i can check that or do I just need to buy a new one and try it.

Thanks, Mike

I don't know if you can check it but you can try cleaning it first. They get built up with crud and don't like to count the teeth.

Check the brake pad wear. Mine was on before I did the rear brakes. After new pads and adjustment, the light hasn't been back on. May have been coincidence though.

So I checked the sensor and it just had a little oil on it so that's not the problem I also checked my brake pads, they're fine and as far as I can see all the wiring all the way is fine. Does anyone know where I can get the sensor.

Thanks, Mike

Don't know why were dragging this up, but when a light comes on the computer is trying.to tell you something. Pull the codes first. You don't even have to get dirty for it.

The RABS should have its own diagnostic port under the drivers side dash. Apparently if you turn off the truck, it erases the code until it comes on again, so you will have to try and reproduce the cause of the light then get the flash readout.
