Question 4.9l to 5.8l engine swap questions

Well I think its time i finally make my truck into my ultimate dream truck.

I have a 1994 reg cab short bed with a 4.9l I6 5speed with over drive 4x4

I want a 351 and just would like to know if the transmission i have can still be used on the 351 along with the radiator, steering system as for clearance issues not sure if they used a different system for the v8s

the engine i'm looking at is still in the truck its a 95 f250 its an automatic so ill have to swap the flex plate out with a flywheel but that's no biggie unless the bell housing is different then that id have to pick up as well. any help would be greatly appreciated.

radiator will not work, the inlet and outlets are on opposite sides, other than that the cores are the same, you will also need the engine harness, and the computer.

steering is the same for all trucks.

I knew about the harness and computer. would really like to find a 96 351 but the computer set up is a bit different.

the radiator kind of sucks but i'm sure the truck still has a good one hopefully.

I would like to build up the 351 a bit before i drop it in but worried the odb1 system is not going to be the best if its stock and chips and crap like that i don't see working.

I would like to get a mild cam possibly better intake headers and bigger injectors something to give it a bit more power with out sucking up the entire tank.

The 5 speed in your truck is probably the Mazda M5OD. A built 351 would likely grenade it. Although I've had two and like them the M5OD was not used behind the the 351. The ZF 5 speed is a heavier duty unit. You will need one with a SBF bolt pattern.

I plan on getting a zf transmission but the issue is id like to keep my 4x4
I don't plan on thrashing my truck i never really do and yes i have the M5od transmission. I really only got 1800 to do it with engine i found is 400 + 100 fr the radiator motor mounts then another 300 for the ecu and a harness thats not all cut up. besides finding a zf transmission or any "good" 8th or 9th gen ford parts is a feat in its self.
