Default Power steering pump removal problem

I have read all the posts about power steering removal and have read three other removal procedures. I HAVE A 96 F150 4.9 4x4. I am trying to replace the power steering pump but can't get the thing off. The three nuts that hold it in place are long. long enough to get in the way and stop me from backing them out without running into the pulley. When I back them out they just run into the pulley and I have already bent the pulley by trying to tough them out but they still are too long to get out. I have a pulley removal tool but cannot fit it into compartment space(unless I remove the radiator and I do not wan to do that) to seperate the pulley from the pump. I also tried to loosen the pulley from the front with a hex nut but am having trouble breaking the bond. The only thing I can think of is to remove the whole bracket; the bracket that connects to the engine and the bracket that is also holding the a/c compressor. It just doesn't seem like that is the way either. Please help???? Any one know of the proper way, some videos or step by step pic diagrahms?

I have found that if something is in your way, remove it. It will take at least twice as long working around something in the way as it would if you just removed it in the first place.

Is your power steering pulley remove a jaw type puller or is it the one that fits in the groove on the pulley. The jaw style will bend the pulley out of shape without removing it, the other type can also be used to install the pulley after replacement.

Went to autozone and rented a pulley tool with a shorter screw, trying it on friday. Let you know how it goes.
