Default Power Door Lock Motor Questions

I had the time to finally tinker with the power door lock actuator since the rivet was broken and making it clunk the door every time I hit a bump.

I have a few questions because I think I have a defective part.

1) Are any adjustments needed when installing it?

2) If so, what are these adjustments?

3) Is the motor supposed to do something (spin I guess) when you hit the switch?

4) If so, is there anything that would prevent it from doing so other than a defective motor?

Since I finally see how to get the thing out, I am thinking mine may be defective since it seems to work sometimes and I might as well buy a new one now before old man winter gets here.

No adjustment. It is a motor but doesn't spin like a regular motor. Being a motor it does have brushes.
