A word to the wise, DO NOT let it cure on your skin. There is not a solvent out there that will take it off without taking your skin with it too once the POR cures. I found out the hard way, I had black speckles of it on my arms and face for weeks. lol

What areas on undercarriage should I not paint with POR-15?

I wouldn't paint a driveshaft, this stuff is so thick, it will def throw off your balance.

Just an FYI - It is photodegradable - on areas exposed to the sun, you need to topcoat it with something. I know the P.O. was doing his undercarriage, which isn't typically exposed to the sun, but I would coat that as well. Might as well cover it to protect it if you're going through all the trouble (and expense).

I've used por-15 in the past but with truck frames and such have found that zero-rust brand paint is as good and price effective with more colors. www.zero-rust.com just another suggestion.

I used por-15 on my camper frame about two years ago. The product went on well and looked great, however it is chipping and appears to be really brittle. Frame is already rusting where rocks have knocked the coating off. And yes I did top coat it and follow instructions to a tee. Some guys love this stuff but I wasn't very impressed.

I threw some on the rear most part of the rear body panels after the rear wheels where the metal is parallel to the road. I had a lot of rock chips in both sides and one side had a small rust hole in it that I cleared the rust out of, patched with some filler, and covered in POR 15. That stuff really sticks on once you apply it.

Another good option is chassis saver if you can find it... just as good as POR and it was way cheaper (here in canada at least)

I cleaned up and painted a rusty frame with it and the stuff held up incredibly well. Sticks well and cures as hard as a rock. If you get it on you while painting, it stays there until it wears off lol!

I was just looking at their web-site. They seem to suggest that it can take UV exposure with two coats. Was that your experience?
