Default Truck Smokes Only At Start up

I have a '95 351 4x4 with 143k miles on it. When I fire it off for the first time of the day it smokes pretty bad (white/blue smoke), however after it heats up the smoke stops. I did a compression test and got between 185-199 p.s.i. on all 8 cylinders (I cranked 5 times for each cylinder; is this normal p.s.i.?) I also did a combustion leak test, came back negative (fluid stayed blue). It has an obvious oil leak. Could the smoke result from bad valve stem seals?

IMO, yes.

Replaced mine - both the intake and the exhaust. The spark plug hole adapter that one applies compressed air to was a big help preventing dropping the valve into the cylinder. Valve spring compressor makes life a bit easier too.

An afternoon project - not too bad, not too difficult, once you get the hang of it. Torque everything back to spec.

Compression is outstanding for your case.
