Painting my bumper

Painting my bumper
I own a 93 f150 XL I6 4.9L and I bought it as a plain work truck with no bumper, carpet, A/C, radio, haha pretty much nothing! To say the very least it is an awesome truck that I don't think I will ever see the end to! I bought a simple bumper after, but now I would like to paint it black because some of it is chipping off, also I would really like the look of it. I have a pneumatic paint gun (shown in picture). It is a metal bumper, soo I need to know what type of paint, and any extra info that you may have thanks!

Any good automotive paint will work. The prep work is just as important as the paint primer combo. You might also look at a quart of the roll on bedliner materials, most of these have antiskid agents and are flexible enough to withstand impacts on the bumper.

^^ that gets my vote. get a can of herculiner or any tough bedliner and use that. should be really tough. im gonna paint my front bumper one of these days and im gonna use rustoleum chrome color and then clear coat it. gonna paint my stock wheels too! only use wheel paint for them
but since this is a rear bumper i definitely vote for the herculiner, only you'll have to roll it on, and i'd recommend taking the bumper back off when you paint it just to make absolutely sure none gets on the truck.

do it
def use the rhino liner or whatever brand u want. i use it on everything. with 3 coats there is nothing short of a grinder that will mess it up. and its got a semi-flat finish so it looks great. i smash trees and not even a scratch. a gallon will do both bumers and rears easily so its worth the money cause its one and done. just some rough sanding, make sure its clean, prime it twice and roll that crap on. no worries ever again

Well I know this is a extremely old post but I would love to say that I finally got that bumper painted! I used Rustoleum hammered I picked up from Home Depot for around $15 and I have a whole other can left over. It looks amazing! Light years better than the old . I will get up a better picture than this when it was all finished but I just made sure it was really clean and taped up good!

Well I totally forgot to put up a picture but here is the bumper after I painted it! I was just simply amazed at how much better it looks, I HATED how it used to look. Very glad at how it turned out. If your bumper looks like my old one this is a absolute MUST!
