Free Intake Mod

Free Intake Mod
Saw this idea floating around on youtube, so I figured that I would try it out.
First off, you need to unhook the two intake tubes leading to the intake box. You can then undo the valve cover breather tube. Loosen the two bolts holding the air box, you will then need to pull the two push pins holding the snorkel onto the core support and separate it from the lower snorkel piece using a screw driver to pry the tubes apart. You can then pull the air box up and out as a unit, and separate it from the lower snorkel tube. Take the airbox as a unit and literally flip it upside down and bolt it down. It will look something like this...
You can then reconnect the intake tubes, routing an AC line between the tubes. I cut the rubber pieces holding the intake tubes together to make this process easier.
Now for the valve cover breather tube, I completely took the tube and rubber elbow off the valve cover and bought myself a breather filter from Pep boys. I know this technically doesnt make it free but you guys can spare 10 bucks.
Upon a test drive, the intake was louder and I could feel a better pull on the SOTP meter

^^^ +1 and with that open breather when you operating under load and the PCV valve cant handel all of the blowby gas it will vent out the breather getting oil on the engine and unless you have an unuseualy tight fire wall you will get blowby fumes in the cab as well

Is that why I put a filter on it?

filter or not the fumes will still enter outside the engine as well as any oil... the filter doesnt do anything but look pretty... it's a nice though but you probably shouldn't look to Youtube for Auto mods.... just sayin

My 300 and the 460 has the cold air intake on the drivers side radiator support while the SBF V8s have them up and over the support. I know some of the 302/351 guys pick up the 300/460 CAI to use for their trucks.
