Default Oil pressure gage reads low

Hi, the oil gage on the cluster instrument panel reads low, too low.
However when I put a real gage in place of the sending unit into the side of the block it reads good-very-good, anybody else have this problem?

Could be that the tube to the gauge is clogged and not receiving the proper pressure to read accurately. I had a similar problem on an old 66 Pontiac Bonneville that I used to own.

It's electric, the gage in the cluster, the stock Ford gage.
It reads very low, maybe it's just bad.

The gauge itself is electric, but it plugs into a sensor and I would bet that sensor is connected to the oil pump by a small diameter tube to get the reading to feed to the gauge.

The oil pressure sending unit is just a little can that is screwed into a hollow extension from the block. It's located just infront of the oil filter. I was worried about my oil pressure once, so I replaced the sending unit, only to find that my wire had been corroding. I cleaned it off, and the guage shot up.

Amazing what a good connection can do!!!

I say check the conection and if its good replace the sending unit. The hole in the sending unit is very small.
