Default Odb2 Port Location

Could someone please tell me where the computer port is located on a 1996 F150 XL. (4.9L, if that matters). I have a reader ordered and I just went out to check the location of the port, it's nowhere to be found (as far as I can tell) inside the truck.

It will have a plastic cover on it that I believe says diagnostic port.

Thank you. Mine, for some reason has been removed. The bracket that held it is still there. I'm just puzzled as to why someone would remove it, wires and all!

Possible the computer was changed to an older model? If its OBDII ( which all 96 vehicles are in the us ) then it has to have the port working somewhere. If you remove it the vehicle won't start.

If it's not where it should be, is there anywhere else it could be?

I'm assuming it's a 1996. The VIN is for a 96 model, and the title states it is a 1996. Oddly enough though there is no door jam sticker. I bought this truck last May, and just now getting around to really checking it out, for all I know it could be something cobbled together from a wrecking yard. But, it does look nice and runs great.

look on the drivers side fender near the hood hinge, or just take a picture of the area. there should be a diagnoses port for the OBDI trucks there. my concern would be if the cab was replaced and its really a pre 94 or 95 or something with just a 96 cab.

It does have a odb1 port at that location. I suppose it is a 1994/95 with a 1996 cab. Now the search begins to find out what truck I have, I'm assuming the mileage is wrong also. When I was looking for a truck, I narrowed it down to a 94,95,or 96 for the body style and type refrigerant used. It looks like I succeeded beyond my wildest dreams, seems I got a little of each one! Anyway, Thanks a lot for you help.
