So obviously an '87 is OBDI. I have an adapter to plug into my navigators OBDII and it sends it to my phone via bluetooth. has anyone tried to "piggyback" a OBDII connector into an OBDI? Is this even possible? I have tried seraching but I got nothing...TIA

Some of the newer Scan tool have adapters for OBD1 to ODB2 connectors. But just a connection type plug. Never seen one like you talking about, that lets OBD1 send info via bluetooth. Where did you get it from? If it works would like to have one also. Be allot easier than counting blinking light.

I have one the goes OBDII to bluetooth. My question is can I get a OBDI to OBDII cable and then hook my bluetooth thing up to the OBDII like on a regular OBDII car?

In short, no. OBDII is a completely different system & most OBDII readers can't read OBDI.

X2. Obd2 is a computer program. Obd1 is a simple digital ( on off ) code. You can get a reader from a parts store for around $30 or you can use the procedure on the sticky to flash the code on your check engine light or 12v test light.

Warlockk- I figured as much... Was thinking I will need the cable eventually, but if there was a way to piggyback the 2 cables together and get an actual real time feed like OBDII on the OBDI, would be grerat! Guess Ill just have to pick one up when the time is right lol. Thanks!

there is no way to do the piggy back...

On our trucks you go from the J3-Service port to PC... I have NOT found the cable yet and most that offer a cable are Tuner software places where you also tune for a 500.00 package...

I have Diagnostic PC software but no cable for the EEC-V.

I would have thought you could also use the Diagnostic connector as well as it has a DATA port but no luck there either....

seems that one was never really opened up to the main stream like the GM OBD1 and all OBD2

I did a lot of electronic tuning on my 05 stab that I had. I was running stock turbo and fuel sys and about 325hp running 22 psi of boost... I bought a netbook just for that reason. I have the obd2 cable to usb and the software was free...ill keep trying to figure out something.

yea I got the OBD2 bluetooth along with bluetooth netbook and Android phone... works nicely and one of the softwares I have does OBD1 Ford and GM....and OBD2
