Default no start need advise

I have a 91 f150 5.0 5sp 4x4 and last night I went to leave my inlaws house and the relay would kick but not the starter so we tryd jumping it and that didnt work so we tryd push starting it and still nuthing. I got to looking at it and found I lost my main ground from the battery. Could that be causing my problem? I want to figure it out before I walk 6 miles back to it to work on it.

Could definitely cause the problem. If you don't have a good ground, all the power connections in the world won't help because the circuit can't complete.
If the main ground wire (goes to the frame and the motor) isn't hooked up, the only grounds you would have left would be a couple of little body grounds.
That might be enough to make the relay click, but not enough for everything else and especially not enough for the starter.
Try using the booster cables from ground on the battery to the frame and the motor.

Well I got that cable replaced and still having the same problem. I even added an extra ground to engine and frame.

So when you turn the key the relay (solenoid) on the fender clicks, but the starter doesn't engage and turn ?

The battery ground goes anywhere on the engine block. Not the frame. Also did the fuel pump go eeeee when you turned the key on?

Figured it out ... it was a bad starter and a bad fuel tank selector switch.
