Hey. I've got a '90 F150 5.0L engine. It died on me yesterday at a stop sign. I'm not getting any spark when I ground the plugs to the block, and I have new plugs and wires on it, that were working just fine, until yesterday. Y'all have any suggestions on what might be the problem?

It is more than likely your coil. If you remove center wire from distributor, the one that runs to coil and check for spark in that wire, you will probably find no spark as it is a bad coil.

Ok, I'm not a mechanic. I tried to test it the same way I tested the plugs, by putting a spark plug in the end that was going to the center of the distributer cap and grounding it to the block. When I did that, I didn't get any spark. Did I do this the right way?

There are a few things it could be. It could be the coil, but probably isn't. Have the ignition module tested at the parts store, it's a common problem that causes loss of spark. It also can be the PIP sensor, located in the distributor.

I replaced the coil, but when I test it with the new coil I still don't get any spark coming directly off the coil. The connector going into the coil is reading around 12 volts. Is this what it should be reading, and where do those wires come from? They go into the bundle with the rest of them but I don't know where they come out or what they should hook to.
Also I am reading 11.9 vdc on both sides of the connector, shouldn't the power be different on one of the sides?
And where would I find the ignition module?

Some have the ignition module bolted on the side of the distributor. It requires a special ignition module removal tool, available at the parts store. The tool looks like a **** with a socket on it. A regular socket won't fit. Other trucks have the module bolted to the drivers side inner fender.
