No spark from coil. engine wont fire.
Hey guys, i went to go fire up my truck, and realized that i was only getting a spark intermittently from the coil, so i replaced the coil, and while i was at it, I also replaced the distributor cap and rotor. now I am still not getting spark from the coil. Is it possible that i purchased a faulty coil? or is it more likely that the problem comes from somewhere else? Any help appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!

Yes bill, the rotor does turn. that was replaced along with dist. cap, and coil.
Its strange, one second, the truck wont fire, and im getting no spark from the coil, but 30 minutes later, it will fire right up. theres a check engine light to go along with the mess.

yes the ecu is underneath the master cylinder. it has a 10mm bolt head. just be careful taking it off. read on another forum that he broke the thread insert on it and it was just spinning and took him a while to get it out. also another thing to check is your wiring in the power distribution box and make sure that none of the wires going into there are corroded and/or broke off. also if you have the obd 1 computer hook it up and see why the CEL is on.

Ok, The truck only has 80,000 miles, i could be wrong, but to my knowledge, isnt it very unlikely for the computer to go out this early? also, is it possible that my problem revolves around a bad cam position sensor? im going to run it for codes tomorrow.

Don't think the 92 5.0L has the cam position sensor, that came in around 96 with the distributorless (DIS) ignition system. Check into the price of a rebuilt distributor, it should come with the internal workings and also the external ignition module.

Well, the distributor fine, i forgot that when im not getting spark, its at the coil. not just the distributor. Could it be a Crank position sensor? that could also be a possibility.
