Default Newbie. My new truck. (Pic)

I am completely new to the F150 and Ford world.

Purchased this as a second vehicle in replacement of my car I sold.

I rarely drive, but needed something for home depot trips, and something to work on. Paid $1400.

My Plans:
  1. Engine Cleaning, In Progress
  2. Repairs, Needs new serp belt, front wheel bearing, and some minor wire cleanup and securing.
  3. Finish the Wood Bed, Dark Stain.
  4. Install Chrome Grill, References appreciated.
  5. Wheels, Rubberize/Plastidip/Liner the rims. Chrome center caps (Purchased)
  6. Front Bumper, Find new one, black. References appreciated. OR angle the corners so it doesn't look like a box, then Rubberize/Plastidip/Liner. Angle where it meets the wheel with a 1x6.
  7. Tires, New ones, maybe a tiny bit shorter.
  8. Fix the dents.
  9. Interior, Deep clean
Any comments or advice appreciated.

I've seen your posts about the new bumper, I think that will help a lot to the looks. But the rest of the truck looks pretty cool. I wonder if you put that spray bed liner in a can on the inside of the bed it would help keep the wood from rotting to quickly.

The bumper is here, just waiting on the brackets. I CANT WAIT till I get it on. I hate driving it as it is.

I am going to use an oil based stain, and the truck is garaged kept. I maybe have to drive it once a week as well. It is my home depot mobile/toy.

If your trying to save the wood look in the bed, then use a spar urethane for the finish. It's thicker and is used for boat applications. Stain to color first then urethane.

I am thinking of not using Urethane at all. The previous owner did that, and it was no match for the florida sun. Turned into glue, then pealed.

I will check out this stuff though.

Make sure you sand off the old and give a good texture for it to grab to. Thin coats with light sanding in between. And make sure it cures right between coats. Follow directions on can. If the previous owner just applied a thick layer, it wouldn't last in the Carolina sun.

Went in close on that front bumper,.......wooden box, that's funny stuff. Good call on steel. That's one of those things that people take pictures of, post on forums and laugh.
