New guy/Relay confusion.
New here....just bought a 94 F150 4x4 300 5-speed for a winter vehicle as I ride my motorcycle mostly in the summer and to haul a boat im inheriting.
Been slowly going through the typical maintenance (Seems like no one has touched any of it on this truck in its life) when I came across this...
The dangling part is the relay with a general fuse taped to it and if I wiggle it I can hear the relay clicking like crazy a couple times. I tried removing the extra wires and just plugging the relay back in but then my fuel pump wouldnt work so I put it all back together and now the truck has trouble starting for the first few cranks.
Help would be appreciated.

sounds as if something is loose or burned in the fuse/relay block and those stake-ons are taking up the slack/looseness.
Not sure why he would have a real fuse there? But if the relay clicks, something is loose or the relay is bad.
Make sure the connections are tight and clean, then make sure the pins follow the relay plug to relay socket exactly.
bug light or volt meter may help you know for sure, or narrow down which wire/connection is wobbly.

you might check for similar wiring (miswiring) elsewhere in the electrical.
Not sure what you mean by plugged in a certain way? The relay only works in one position relative to the socket, assuming it is the correct relay part number.
JUnkyard relay may or may not be any good, you would need to ohm-meter it out to see if it is making and breaking correctly with and with out power.

Kinda what I was thinking...do you have to take out all the fuses and relays to do that? its just kinda sitting in there... I was trying to see under it but stopped in fear of breaking more stuff.
